HR Tenets To Live By

  • The more you show appreciation for your employees, the more they would be motivated.
  • Appreciation in the form of praise or pat on the back, however, is not enough as there would come a time when they would expect something for the work that they are putting in
  • People work for money, end of discussion. Is it bad? Not necessarily.
  • Better to go for pay-for-performance than across the board increases/ benefits/ rewards
  • Great managers are hard to come by. Make sure you know what to do when you come across one
  • Show that you are committed and you would have people who are also committed
  • People cannot be highly productive throughout the whole day. Just as a wave has crests and troughs, so does a person’s level of productivity
  • Each employee has his or her own unique ability. The secret lies in matching the right person with the right position
  • HR forms the bridge between employees and executives. They shine the light on the performers and help keep the executives grounded.
  • To be a good HR, you would need to walk around the office. Why? It helps you keep in-the-know while assuring the employees that you care for them. Walking around would also mean small talk. Make sure you do not go beyond.
  • HR is there to ensure that employees need not worry about anything else other than their job. This means, you need to make sure that you are able to provide for the employee’s basic needs.

What about you, what do you believe in?
